mixtape: name me

You have to love when bands can shout themselves out in their own songs. That’s a special kind of talent that gets huge props. A few obvious ones immediately come to mind thanks to the ability to tie the song title, album title and artist name together (the ultimate TRIFECTA!), whereas others are more subtle in their approach, hiding the name deeper within the lyrics… but band names in song titles and song lyrics is definitely fun to follow and, it all started with the Monkeys? Maybe… but here’s some of the ones I am more apt to be listening to lately that you might enjoy:

Black Sabbath “Black Sabbath” from Black Sabbath
Motorhead “Motorhead” from Motorhead (yes, it is the Hawkwind cover)
Metallica “Whiplash” from Kill ’em All (in the lyrics)

Sworn Enemy “Sworn Enemy” from As Real as it Gets
From Autumn to Ashes “Short Stories with Tragic Endings” from Too Bad Your Beautiful (in the lyrics)

And, we’ll end this on Soulfly, Soulfly I-V (or whatever number we’re on, since there’s one on each album…thanks Max!)

– four late additions, yes, it’s all too easy to shout one’s self out in hip hop but hereya go because of their influence and impact on the rock and metal community:
Public Enemy “Public Enemy #1” from It takes a Nation of Millions
Beastie Boys “Beastie Boys” from The Beastie Boys
Run DMC “Run’s House”
Body Count “Body Count” from Body Count

alright, I know there’s tonnes more, I even left some out because I’m not really a fan of the band, so feel free to leave it in the commentary
