quick shot: hockey hopes
Another year, another hockey draft. I’ve played in this league before, so I’m familiar with the general level of competition, even though there was substantial turnover in the participating teams. Last season I had a very late pick and some savvy moves into a winning season. This year I pulled the first pick. I’ve experienced the first pick in baseball, which tends to skew my strategy, but since I don’t have an established routine in hockey drafts it didn’t throw me off as much.
The lay of the land is 6 forwards (2 centers, 4 wingers), 4 d-men, 1 goalie and 3 misc. slots to fill per day plus 4 bench players in reserve. I did fairly well with holding three goalies last season, so I aimed to pull down the same set up essentially as last year. The first pick was super easy, nabbing Ovie and with a couple of picks for Center I managed to get a little extra versatility with dual listed position players which could help.
